Chip Time!!!
« on: December 07, 2011, 05:24:23 PM »
So I finally accumulated what i think is enough for a chip and i just wanted your inputs on the chips you've had experiences with :)

If you guys can so kindly give me a quick one or two sentence review on some of the various tunes out there with some prices that would be GREAT!

If anything I'm pretty on the fence on Uni, REVO, or DynoTune...... and REVO is having that sale right now lol, oh and i have an Audi A3 with the bolt on works, pretty much set to jump to Stage 2 (intake, exhausts, DV) just in need of the HPFP and BT -_- but thats another story...... Thanks!!!

Lol Jamie beat me to it. Get a eurodyne tune done at blitzkrieg, they can do a base tune and a custom dyno tune if you want more power, might be a good idea since you already have some bolt-ons.

ya eurodyne is the way to go if you plan on doing a custom tune after, blitzkrieg does eurodyne and a wicked custom tune on the 2.0t but it depends if its 6spd or dsg

For what it's worth, I had the APR 93 tune on my A3 2.0t. It made a huge difference. Not a custom route, but OTC is not always bad.

Yea, any OTS tune will be almost identical in terms of performance... That being said, you could get the eurodyne tune as a base file, which is "off the shelf" then have it custom tuned later on down the road.

Oh im ready for a BT its just getting it is an issue in my current situation, but it shouldnt be too far down the road, how much is the base eurodyne? As for OTS tunes, im really leaning towards REVO stage 2 solely on the 100 off they are offering right now....any word on it? I've heard REVO's are really hard on the engine.

my eurodyne was under 750 with taxes and that was just the ots tune but blitzkrieg does a custom tune for not much more money to the 2.0t on a stock setup stock turbo that makes way more power then the ots tunes. blitzkrieg made 210 whp and 290 torque and the car was 100% stock, you say u have some stage 2 mods, my guess would be you could make a little more power then that but thats huge power to the wheels for a stock setup. only problem is that it needs to be a 6spd car. if you have a dsg car you need a dsg tune from HPA to make more power then the stage 1 chip makes because the dsg's computer bleeds off torque to protect the clutches max torque is something like 240 torque but the hpa tune sets it to something like 400 max torque

anyways i would do a eyrodyne ots to start and if your looking for a little bit more after that and u dont have the funds to do a bt setup u can still get a custom tune with the stock turbo and make some nice power. the 2.0t stock setup is way detuned from factory so any ots tune brings it to life but the only tune the we can do custom dyno tunes on locally is eurodyne since all tunes are about the same power and the same money for me i went with eurodyne so that later on i could do something custom to it.

First rule of chipping ... figure out how far you are gonna go with that car and find a tuner that can support you along the way. Too many guys run out and buy a shelf software flash only to replace it later on when they add a turbo or something and thats lost cash !

FWIW for 11 years and 3 Audi's I have ONLY run GIAC software and have been very happy !
2000 A4 - GIAC chip
2002 A4 - GIAC chip, then GIAC chip-switch, then GIAC flash
2004 A4 - GIAC flash, then GIAC fx flash, then GIAC/AWE GT28r tune
